The reasons for insufficient cooling capacity or slow cooling of the chiller

2023-12-12

Industrial water chillers are essential equipment for current industrial production. And for each unit during operation, the participation of refrigerants is indispensable. Therefore, insufficient cooling capacity will affect whether the machine can operate normally. If problems arise, it will bring a lot of troubles to usage. The cooling capacity of the water chiller is insufficient, or the cooling rate is very slow. When we encounter these problems, how should we solve them? Next, let's analyze the reasons for the insufficient cooling capacity of industrial water chillers and the slow cooling situation.

Water chiller

The reasons for insufficient cooling capacity or slow cooling of the water chiller:

1. The occurrence of this situation is related to large cooling capacity loss. Due to insufficient insulation thickness of equipment and pipelines or damage to the insulation layer, the cooling capacity loss increases, affecting the cooling effect. During operation, once the outer surface of the insulation layer is found to be moist or frosted, it indicates that the thickness of the insulation material is insufficient or has been dampened. At this time, it is necessary to increase or replace the insulation material in time. In addition, the water tank cover of the evaporator is not tight, the sealing strips of the air treatment room or cold storage sealed doors are damaged, and the air supply ducts of air conditioners and the doors and windows of rooms leak. All of these will increase the cooling capacity loss, and corresponding measures should be taken in time.

2. When each water chiller is installed, a layer of insulation cotton is wrapped on the evaporator and pipelines to prevent cooling capacity loss. If the unit has a slow cooling rate, enterprises should first check whether the thickness of the pipeline insulation layer is insufficient or whether the insulation layer is damaged. Be sure to remember to wrap insulation cotton and ensure the thickness is sufficient!

3. Check whether there is air in the cooling system of the water chiller. When installing the water chiller, whether it is inside the unit, the water pump, or the pipeline, there must be no air. Even if there is only a little bit of air, the water chiller will definitely not be able to operate normally. In addition, there is a layer of film inside the water pump. Be sure to remember to tear it all off before installation. Otherwise, the water cannot flow or flows very slowly, directly affecting the operation of the water chiller.

4. Check whether the moving parts of the refrigeration compressor are worn or the clearance is increased, resulting in a decrease in gas delivery. The compressor is the heart of the water chiller. Once the compressor has problems, the water chiller 100% cannot operate. Therefore, the regular inspection and maintenance of the compressor cannot be ignored.

5. Poor efficiency of the refrigeration compressor is also one aspect of the reason. During the long-term operation of the equipment, the wear of the moving parts, the increase in the fit clearance or the poor sealing will all cause the actual gas delivery of the compressor to decrease and the cooling capacity to decrease. Check the refrigeration compressor. If it cannot be repaired well, it should be replaced in time. The presence of air in the system can also lead to this situation. At this time, the exhaust pressure and temperature increase, the power consumption increases, and the cooling capacity decreases.

The above are the reasons for the insufficient cooling capacity or slow cooling of the water chiller. I hope it is helpful to everyone. If this phenomenon occurs in the water chiller, it is generally inseparable from the above several reasons. Of course, if you still cannot solve the problem after operating according to the several methods analyzed above, it is recommended that you directly contact the water chiller manufacturer for inspection and repair to avoid larger-scale failures.
